Prepasted Wallpaper Installation
-
Prepasted wallpaper has a layer of dried adhesive applied to the backing during manufacturing. That adhesive is activated with water according to the manufacturer’s instructions before the wallpaper is positioned on the wall.
Prepasted wallpaper is not the same as peel-and-stick wallpaper. It still requires careful measuring, activation, alignment, smoothing, and trimming.
-
Prepasted papers are available in a wide selection of colors and patterns and can be a practical choice for bedrooms, nurseries, offices, powder bathrooms, and other residential spaces.
However, “prepasted” does not automatically mean simple to install. The activation method and resting time vary by manufacturer. Too much or too little water can affect the adhesive, while improper handling can crease, stretch, or damage the paper.
Some brands are designed for overlapping seams, while others are installed edge to edge. Always check the product specifications so you understand what the finished seams should look like.

Prepasted wallpaper performs best on smooth, flat, clean, and properly primed walls. Existing texture or damage should be corrected before installation.
